San Diego Passport Agency

The San Diego Passport Agency, located in downtown San Diego, CA, is one of three Regional Passport Offices in the state of California. There are also Passport Agencies in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The San Diego Passport Agency provides expedited passport services to travelers who are departing within 2 weeks (or 4 weeks if a travel visa is also required), as well as to travelers who have life-or-death emergencies requiring overseas travel. Appointments are needed for service at the San Diego Passport Agency, but proof of travel is not required to make an appointment.

The San Diego Passport Agency is a two block walk from the Santa Fe Depot station, which is served by the COASTER train and the Green and Orange line trolleys. The America Plaza trolley station is a 4-5 minute walk from the Passport Agency; it is served by Blue and Orange line trolleys

Paid parking lots located nearby charge approximately $8-$12 for daily parking.

Appointments are available during the following office hours:

On the Day of Your Appointment

• Arrive early; you will need extra time to go through the security screening.

• Bring your:

  • Appointment Confirmation Number
  • Valid identification
  • Completed passport application form and supporting documents
  • Means of payment – checkbook, major credit card, or cash or money order for the exact amount of your government fee
• Take the elevator to the 10th floor.
• Check in at Window #1, receive a number, and then have a seat and wait for your number to be called.

Processing Times at This Location

• Travelers with departures within 8 business days or life-or-death emergencies: the passport agent will advise when your completed passport will be ready for pickup at the agency.
• All other travelers: completed passports will be sent in approximately 8 business days.
